What are massage candles?

What are massage candles? If you're not familiar with them, you're not alone. First appearing on the market this year, they are just now starting to gain a market presence in salons and spas, as unique corporate gifts as well as that exclusive gift for any man or woman. Whereas candles were once simply a functional way to light the dark, candles are now most commonly purchased to scent homes or to add a romantic or relaxing ambiance. Massage candles are a new variety of candle serving several simultaneous functions.

While they light a room, provide a delightful ambiance, and scent the immediate area with subtle fragrance, massage candles also contain cosmetic ingredients that make them an excellent body moisturizer offering anti-aging benefits and massage oil alternative. Because of their unique ingredients, a true massage candle will melt at just over body temperature. Much like a hot bath, they are comfortably warm, but not hot.

The following list identifies a number of reasons why soy candles are preferable to paraffin wax candles:

  • No carcinogens are produced from burning soy candles.

  • Soy wax is non-toxic.

  • Little or no soot is produced from burning soy candles.

  • Soy candles will not discolour your walls or furniture with petroleum byproducts.

  • Soy wax is a renewable resource; petroleum is limited.

  • Soy wax is biodegradable.

  • Soy wax is water-soluble (no more messy cleanups).

  • Burning soy candles helps support the farmer.

  • Soy wax candles hold colour and scent better than paraffin.

  • Soy candles burn 30% to 50% longer than paraffin.

  • All natural organic soy candles

  • How to use your Spa-Valous Candle

    STEP 1
After choosing your Spa-Valous™ Body Candle relating to your choice of colour from the seven colours of the chakra's you can enjoy an aroma therapeutic bath experience. Read the insert in the box before use.
Trim wick to 5mm before lighting the candle

    STEP 2
Once lit allow candle to burn for approximately 20 minutes or until a full melt pool has been achieved.
Did you know candle wax possesses a kind of ‘memory’? From the first time the candle burns and the wax becomes liquid, the wax will tend to repeat this melt pattern each time the candle is lit. Improper burning can lead to puddling in the center while leaving unsightly ridges along the edges of the container. Therefore, in order to help ensure even burning in a container candle, safely allow the melt pool to expand evenly across the candle surface before extinguishing it. (Keep your candle out of a draft or breeze this will help ensure even melting across the surface.) This method will help your candle burn more evenly across the surface the next time it is lit.

    STEP 3
Once melted, Soy wax tends toward an irregular surface, producing small bumps and formations and even a white patina. This is quite natural and doesn't indicate a defect, nor does it affect the quality of your candle in any way.
Allow the candle to burn for at least 20 minutes in order to form a melt pool while you lie and relax in the aromatic flavours of the essential oils and body safe fragrances used to fragrance the candles. These fragrances are chosen according to their related chakra.
Once out of the bath. Place your finger into the melt pool, it will only be 2 degrees hotter than your body temperature and therefore the oil will be warm not hot. Push the bottom of the wick into the oil in order to extinguish the flame. Do not blow the flame out as you don’t want to give off any white soot.

    STEP 4
Once the flame is out the soy candle can be used as a luxurious body lotion or massage medium. Make sure that the body is completely dry before applying the lotion. Massage the lotion well into the skin. Spa-Valous™ is the candle that you wear.

Products are available at selected Salons and Spas.
