Mother's Day Gift

Haven’t had time to buy a Mother’s Day gift yet, well here are some great DIY gift ideas that you can make before Sunday.

Now that the weather is getting colder, hot baths are even more enticing, there is nothing nicer than to sink into a soothing, steamy bath full of scented bath salts to relax and wind down.

To make your Bath Salts, combine:
• 1 cup Epsom Salts *
• 1 cup coarse sea salt (or pink Himalayan salt if you really want to treat your mum)
• 20-30 drops organic essential oils
• 2 tsp of carrier oil (eg grape seed or avocado)

*You can leave out the Epsom salts and just replace it with sea salt but read futher. Most of us are deficient in magnesium which has been linked to high rates of heart disease, stroke, osteoporosis, arthritis and joint pain, digestive maladies, stress-related illnesses, chronic fatigue and a number of other ailments, so soaking in a bath with Epsom salt, which is high in magnesium, is one of the easiest ways to get a boost.

Combine the salts in a bowl and stir in the carrier oil and then the essential oil blend of your choice (see suggested blends below), it’s as simple as that. To use the bath salts add ¼ to ½ cup of salts to warm or hot water.

Pour the bath salts into cellophane bags or glass jars, tie with ribbon and don’t forget a lovely hand-written tag or label with the ingredients and a personalised message.
