How to do the perfect blow-dry

Start with freshly washed hair. Pat damp hair with a towel until the excess moisture has been removed. At this stage, use a styling product suitable for the finish you want. If your hair is dry, it might be a good idea to use a leave-in conditioner. We like Angel Professional Fantasy Party Goddess Spray Leave-In Conditioner, R120. If you want a sleek finish, apply some Marc Anthony Style Straight Instant Straightening Cream, R89.99 or if you want a fuller look, go for Marc Anthony Instantly Thick Hair Thickening Cream, R89.99.

Start drying the bottom, back part of the hair first. Keep the hair that you aren't working on yet pinned up away from the airflow and heat. If your goal is to straighten the hair, use a paddle brush to stroke hair from root to ends, directing the air on hair as you run the brush through.
If you want to maintain some of your hairs natural texture, blow dry hair by directing air towards the roots and combing through the hair with your fingers. Work your way through the back of the hair and through the sides. When you reach the top layers of hair, use a brush to lift hair straight up and blow dry. Lifting the hair from the scalp in this way will help to add body and volume to your hair.

When hair is nearly dry, the style you want will determine how you should complete the drying process. If you want super straight hair, continue drying hair as before until hair is completely dry. Then, use a flat iron all over the hair and add a shine serum to finish the look – try Marc Anthony Moisture Gloss, R89.99. If you want a more textured look, separate individual sections of hair and lift them up. Twist each section slightly and apply a low heat until each section is dry. Then, allow each section to drop naturally and shake head slightly to let the locks fall into place.

If you want to add a slight curl or flip at the ends of your hair, use the round brush to curl hair into the shape and direction of your choice and blow-dry each section until completely dry. You can create more texture by using a styling wax like Angel Professional Fantasy Party Fiber Control for Texture and Shine, R160, and your fingers to shape individual sections of hair. When blow drying, it is vital to make sure there is no dampness left in the hair in order to prevent frizz. Complete the look by spritzing on a holding spray. We swear by Marc Anthony Pro Finish Ultimate Hold Hairspray, R89.99
